Indiscriminate
Ivan was about 25 years old and he lived in the woods by himself. He lived off the land and loved it. His solitary life was enjoyable for a long time, but he soon started getting lonely. He decided it was time to find a wife.
He went to town the very next night. He was dressed to impress, and impress he did. Being a stranger, everyone’s eyes fell on him immediately. One glance in particular caught his attention. It was the stare of a young lady clad in a shimmering gold and silver dress. She was smiling at Ivan, so he went up to talk to her.
Ivan realized that this girl had the deepest brown eyes he had ever seen. He felt his heart melt under her stare. He introduced himself and they immediately fell in love.
They went out dancing and they went to dinner. She later moved in with Ivan and life became perfect. They spent many months together and decided to get married. The wedding date was set for October 31. The date rolled around soon enough and they were married.
Ivan was a little worried when she showed up wearing all black, but he blew it off. She accidentally cut his hand when trying to slice the wedding cake, and she smiled at Ivan. He realized that something was terribly wrong.
When the couple returned home after the wedding, she ran into the bathroom and locked herself in. She screamed once, and Ivan heard a thud. He forced the door down and his mind reeled at what he saw.
The empty shell of what used to be his wife lay sprawled on the floor. A large gray humanoid mass leered over the body, reveling in its rebirth.
Ivan realized this gray monster was his wife and he snapped. He finally understood why no one got married in town. He believed it was a rumor about the entity that infested itself in women and killed indiscriminately. As this was going through his head, so were the jagged claws of his recent wife.
